April 12, 2011 Minutes - EAA Chapter 673

• Meeting called to order at 7:03 pm EST.

• March minutes accepted as e-mailed to members.

• Treasurer’s report – Reported $3823 in account as of April 12. Presented updates, motion to accept, seconded, and passed.

• Membership report – No changes.

• Young Eagles – 2-3 kids this Saturday. Doug Stone will fly.

• Newsletter report – May issue deadline April 30th. Need contributions! Made several suggestions in January president’s column. Dudley will provide input. Ken Sherman is planning to submit an article.

• Upcoming speakers – North Andover Flight Academy will present on helicopter operations and systems.

• New members and guests – Frank Lazgin of Bolton, MA.

• In the mailbox: o Letter of thanks from Paul Poberezny – Peter Burgher Chapter Challenge - $50

• News from around 9B1 o Bob – All quiet.

• I learned about flying from that: o Bob Stetson – In case of crosswinds, some might choose to use rwy 14 and some 32, so be extra cautious for traffic.

o Doug Stone – Close call last year with jet at Plymouth.

o Dudley Darling – Issues with Garmen GPS signal acquisition.

Business

• Report on Board meeting – Mar 21. Topics discussed: o Speakers and programs for remainder of year – Open to suggestions.

o Need for newsletter articles discussed.

o Recruiting for new members discussed.

o Young Eagles – not enough regular volunteers to continue at 9B1 right now.

o Possibility of fundraising – tabled until we have more compelling reasons.

• Upcoming events:

o Saturday April 16, 11:00am – Chapter flyout to Westfield-Barnes

o Wed., April, 20 – FAAST safety seminar at Minute Man, Light Sport Aircraft & Aviation.

o May 21 – Int’l Learn to Fly Day Issue - For adults, does not include Young Eagles. Issue – No plans for 9B1, maybe FITS, Stow, or Hanover.

o Memorial Day will be first cookout.

i. 2 names have faded - Doug will make arrangements to fix.

ii. Plans started to dedicate (unveil) on Memorial Day.

iii. Christine - Need to notify families ahead of dedication.

• 50/50 winner – Doug Stone, $5.50 to him and $5.50 to chapter.
