EAA Chapter 673 Minutes

July 11, 2006

Meeting was called to order at 7pm. Twenty-two members in attendance.

June meeting minutes accepted as printed in the July, 2006 newsletter.

Treasurer’s report. June’s beginning balance was $3,264.19 and ended at $3,177.82.

Membership report was missing.

Guests this month Tim Ryan, student pilot and Carol Ann Garratt, speaker. Carol Ann flew her Mooney around the world to raise funds for ALS research. Great presentation. She then autographed copies of the book to chapter members. Her book is available from Amazon.com. All proceeds go to ALS Foundation.

Young Eagles will be flown on Saturday, July 15, weather permitting. Only a few kids have signed up so far.

Activities committee – Jim Noone explained the professional pilot series. The first meeting was well attended and created a lively discussion ranging from safe flying to prevention tips. The Jeppesen video on Airport Signage was viewed and discussed.

News from 9B1. Everyone and everything returned safely from the “Sentimental Journey” fly-in at Lock Haven, PA. Steve Murphy soloed this week in N714MG (Instructor: Ken Sherman).

Old Business. Please keep your e-mail updated with Richard DuPee. Shirley acknowledged contributions of $64 from the memorial day barbeque and $32 from the July 4th barbecue. Marlboro Airport Air Day Will be August 19th, Yard Sale September 16th. The air rally will be held in September, date TBD.

New Business. $100 was appropriated for Bob Hanlon to purchase ten used folding chairs for the trailer. Additionally, the membership voted to reimburse Jim Grenier $348 for repairs to the generator being used to power the trailer.

I learned about flying… Tie down your airplane. You just never know when ill winds will blow. When flying into grass/turf strips, it pays to call ahead. Hidden soft spots can damage an airplane.

50-50 raffle won by Christine Pulliam. $11.00 returned to the chapter.

Sunday fly-out breakfast will happen … somewhere. Destination TBD by those participating.
