Chapter 673 Meeting Minutes – June 12, 2007

The meeting was called to order at 7:00.

Secretary Minutes – Motion to approve the minutes for the month of May as published in the latest issue of the Newsletter was approved with one amendment.

Treasurer Report – The treasurer report was also accepted.

Upcoming speakers – Next month’s topic will be airplane model building. Our guest will tell us about his work building exact replicas of vintage airplanes.

Membership report: no update.

Young Eagles Report –15 Young Eagles signed up to fly this Saturday. Three pilots signed up and ground helpers are needed. (Note: event was a success).

Newsletter Report – Jim will provide an article for next month’s issue within the next two weeks. The web editor name is not mentioned in the list of board members and will be added in the next issue.

Trailer Education Program – five attended and the topic was emergency climbs and all the calculations involved in the go around/land decision. Next month’s topic will be cross wind landing at Marlboro.

Mail in –2007 Air Venture NOTAM.

News from 9B1 – All quiet this month.

I learned about flying from that – One of our members participates in the Angel Flight program and is available to explain how it works to anyone who is interested. It is a great way to exercise our passion and volunteer for a worthy cause, and expenses are tax deductible.

Maximum vigilance should be observed not only at non towered but also at towered ones, especially the busy ones like Hanscom. Don’t just rely on instructions coming from ATC, but also keep an eye out for traffic . It is always a good idea to read back instructions to avoid misunderstandings. Also when flying in the Marlboro are keep an eye out for powered gliders.

Old Business – Jim is making progress on the purchase of the new generator for the trailer. New windows for the trailer will be installed before the winter.

Chapter members please report changes in your address/email info to Richard Dupee so the list is kept up to date.

Flying expedition.. Bob Hanlon will set a date. Debating whether to buy food at destination or bring your own.

New Business – Probable date for Air Day is Aug. 18.

Toys for Tots – Beverly keeping an eye on web site so she can book a good date as soon as possible.

Yard Sale – Maybe October; if not, possibly next spring.

July 4th Oldest Pemanent Longest-established Floating Impromptu cook out is confirmed at 1:00 PM.

$ 57 was collected during the Memorial day cook out.

Air rally will be held in late September.

50/50 Raffle. Beverly Lieberman won and donated her 9$ to the chapter.

Sunday breakfast fly-out destination – Probably none, since it’s Father’s Day

The Collings Foundation has an open house this week-end in Stow, MA.
