In News from 9B1, Bryan Hill, Pete Kallander’s grandson, got his private ticket. Pete also took delivery of a new G1000 equipped Cessna Skylane 182T.
Bob Stetson attended a meeting for the resurrection of Palmer Airport. His comment was that we should try to keep the private airports open in the first place. On a sad note, Shirley Airport is gone. The runway has already been bulldozed.
NOTE: Local "news reporters" keep trying to test the security of GA airports, including ours. If you see ANY unusual activity, call the State Police and let Bob Stetson know. Only Bob can authorize access to the airport.
"I learned about flying from that…" Jim Grenier related a story in which, upon his return from Sun ‘n Fun, those aboard were just checking the POH for gliding distances on the Cessna 210 they were flying when an engine malfunction put the new information to use. As an added information, unless you use the word “EMERGENCY” with ATC, help will be much slower in coming. Rich Olsen noted that the AIM has a great section on emergency ground signals. It may be worth reviewing just in case……
