Chapter 673 Meeting Minutes – Nov. 11, 2008

Meeting was called to order by President Beverly Lieberman at 7:00 pm with 16 members in attendance.

Secretary minutes – Approved as published in newsletter

Treasurer’s report – Income of $27.03; no expenses. Current balance is $2,669.31. Report approved.

Upcoming speakers – Jim Ellis tonight; holiday party in December

Membership report – Dues are due – $20 per year now per board vote

Young Eagles report – Dudley will coordinate in Bob’s absence. Five pilots for 10-15 Cub Scouts. Weather forecast doesn’t look good.

Newsletter report – Thanks to Dudley for his article on Harland Avezzie, and to Beverly for her thoughtful farewell letter. Bob Cooper article in January. Will ask Rich Olsen and Kevin Norby since they are the least-recent contributors.

I learned about flying from that: On a flight to Stowe, VT, Beverly and Mark experienced carb icing. Since they’ve had issues with the carb heat cable, they orbited a nearby airport until sure that the heat was working. Keep an eye out for signs of carb ice regardless of weather.

Richard Dupée was reminded of the difference between magnetic north and true north while using GPS and directional gyro in the air rally.

Old business - Bart Bartelsman won the air rally. Nice work by all participants. Thanks to Doug Stone and Deke Kennison for organizing it.

Trailer update – White section completely done. Blue section has two coats primer and one coat paint. Just the final coat of blue and some white touch-ups remaining. Heater is repaired and back in trailer but hasn’t been tested yet.

Newly elected officers and board members were introduced. They will take on their positions in January.

Holiday party is on Tuesday, December 9 at the Juniper Hill Golf Course. Cocktails at 6:30 and dinner at 7:00. Tickets $20 per person.

Holiday raffle: Beverly has called the usual contributors and collected some raffle items. She encourages chapter members to check with local businesses that they frequent for donations.

New business: Chapter membership dues ($20) are due to Richard Dupée Chapter may have lost its 503c non-profit status; need to follow up with treasurer.

Chapter will send a get-well card to Bob Hanlon, who is recovering from knee replacement surgery

50/50 raffle won by John Weigel – $7.50 each for him & chapter
