EAA Chapter 673 Meeting Minutes for October 11, 2005

Meeting called to order by Beverly Lieberman at 7:05pm Twenty members in attendance.

September meeting minutes read and accepted by the membership. Treasurer's report showed a current balance of $3511.32 Accepted.

Membership report. Dues for 2006 are now payable. $15.00 gets you benefits and a newsletter. This year, dues will route from membership to the treasurer to help keep membership list accurate.

Young Eagles report. This month is a biggie. Bob Hanlon reports that he had to limit this month to 50 Eagles. We may do that again next month. We need all available pilots to help on Saturday, October 22.

Our newsletter editor is at a wedding, but requests that we submit photos of the air rallye and any other items of interest.

Guests present at this meeting include Robert Schneider.

Mail in info- The Marines thanked us for previous participation in Toys for Tots, and requested our support again this year. AOPA requests its members and pilots to write senators and congressmen as well as the FAA to protest the proposed DC ADIZ be made permanent. The EAA has sent a soft leather EAA jacket that we will raffle off as a fund raiser.

News from around 9B1: N9839J, a Cessna 150 Aerobat, has been sold to Dudley Darling. Bob Stestson has arranged for an avionics technician to be present at 9B1 to do biannual transponder certifications. The FAA will be presenting a safety seminar on October 26 at 7pm at the 1st Church Congregational in Marlboro. Lets make this a successful program.

I learned about flying from that. Dudley had an electrical deficiency that prevented his flaps from deploying. Dudley used his training to safely return his Cessna to earth at 9B1.

It may be prudent in situations where you have second thoughts about a slam dunk outcome to go to option two, such as using a longer runway at another airport nearby.

Old business: please continue to send e-mail corrections. Another trailer work day has been set for November 5. Yard sale date is October 22. Rain date the 29th. The membership voted to spend $50 for advertising in the Middlesex News. We are still accepting donations for the yard sale.

Toys for Tots has been scheduled for the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Sunday November 29, 2005. The 2005 Christmas Party will be held on 2nd Tuesday in December. The Presidential Buffet at Marlborough Country Club will again be $23.95. The membership voted to subsidize the costs above $20.00 for all. In addition, the membership voted to invite Marlborough airport staff as guests of the EAA, as well as Bob Stetson's mom and dad, who have been invaluable in their support of upgrading the airport facilities. The membership voted to invite them as guests of the EAA to the annual Christmas party.

The winners of the 2005 air rallye were Mark and Beverly Lieberman. The prize will be a familiarization flight in Pete Kallander’s glass panel Cessna 182. Additionally, Beverly and Mark will be next year’s rally masters. Thanks to Pete and Karen for a great rally this year, and thanks to the benefactor who enabled pilots to purchase fuel at reduced cost at 9B1 for this rally.

New business: The membership voted to spend up to $500 for a catalytic ventless heater for the trailer. This heater will run on standard propane cylinders as found on Bar-B-Q units.

Sunday fly out destination is scheduled for Northampton, MA. Please show up at 9B1 at 9am. The flyout will happen somewhere.

50-50 raffle was won by George Seaman and the $8.00 winning was donated to the chapter. Thank You George!
